The Ramzi Halabi Memorial Scholarship

Nick Halabi, co-owner of Nick’s Lounge, experienced an unimaginable loss when his brother, Ramzi Halabi, passed away suddenly in October 2020. Due to the challenges of COVID-19, Nick was unable to travel to Lebanon to attend Ramzi’s funeral and grieve with his family.

Ramzi Halabi was born in Yanta, Lebanon, on March 22, 1971. He was a cherished father, husband, brother, son, uncle, and friend, as well as an active and influential member of his community. For over 25 years, Ramzi led a local Boys and Girls’ Club and served as a teacher, leaving a legacy as a compassionate mentor and leader.

To honor Ramzi’s life and contributions, Nick’s Lounge has established the Ramzi Halabi Memorial Scholarship. This $500 award will be granted to a high school student with aspirations to pursue post-secondary studies in business or entrepreneurship.

Founded in 2018 by Nick Halabi and Nick Kamaleddine, Nick’s Lounge reflects the entrepreneurial spirit of its founders, who each have over 20 years of experience in the restaurant industry. By offering this scholarship, they hope to empower a local student to follow their dreams and one day establish a business of their own.

We extend our gratitude to all the students applying for this scholarship. Your participation honors a remarkable man whose life was taken too soon. We look forward to awarding this scholarship to a deserving student from the Lakeland community.

Applications for the 2025 Ramzi Halabi Memorial Scholarship will open on February 18, 2025, and close on May 1, 2025. The winner will be announced on June 1, 2025.

Are you a student with a passion for business or entrepreneurship? We invite you to apply for this exciting scholarship by submitting a short essay (maximum 500 words) answering the following questions:

  1. Tell us about yourself!
  2. What are your career goals?
  3. Why should you be chosen to receive this scholarship?
  4. What inspires your interest in business or entrepreneurship?

Eligibility:
This scholarship is designed for students planning to pursue post-secondary education in business or entrepreneurship. However, students pursuing other fields of study with the goal of starting their own business are also encouraged to apply.

Submission Details:
Please email your essay in PDF format to nicksloungehr@gmail.com. Be sure to include the following information in your email:

  • Your full name
  • Year of graduation or estimated graduation date
  • Name of your high school
  • The name of the post-secondary program you’ll be attending in the fall of 2025

You may be asked to provide a document confirming your acceptance or conditional acceptance into your post-secondary program.
